The 2014 Viña Mayor Reserva is a red wine made by Bodega Viña Mayor from Ribera del Duero with the best tempranillo grapes from the 2014 vintage.
TASTING NOTES:
Appearance: Dark cherry, garnet rim. Deep layer with burgundy edges and reflections, clean and bright.
Nose: Intense and expressive nose with black fruits and notes of elegant upbringing and complexity. Nuances of cocoa and balsamic. With a good fruit stand of ripe grapes. Aromas of snuff, woodwork, and sweet spices.
Mouth: Spicy, ripe tannins long. Large and bulky, elegant step and long aftertaste. Powerful in the mouth, with silky tannins and a very integrated hardwood.
APPELLATION: Ribera de Duero. VINEYARD: Vineyards located in the vicinity of Quintanilla de Onesimo, in the heart of the Ribera de Duero. Planted at high altitude.
GRAPES: 100% Tempranillo.
AGING: 15 months aging in French oak barrels of 225 liters capacity, a minimum of 20 months in bottle.
PREPARATION: handpicking, double selection table, destemming and light crushing. Temperature-controlled fermentation. Macerating usually 25 to 30 days.
WINE PAIRING: Red meats, stews big game, roasted Castilian and all kinds of cured cheeses.
