Amarone wines from the Classico zone tend to be the most elegant and aromatic. Those from Valpantena are generally lighter and fruitier. Bottlings from the extended Valpolicella region tend to be fuller bodied and more aromatic.
Though great examples are made in other Valpolicella zones, this has led to renewed emphasis on Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico.
After a 4 months drying process of grapes, this soft and complex Amarone is aged in large oak casks and French oak barriques for at least 3 years, and it develops a full, round, intense and rich taste.
Ripe dark-berry, underbrush and cooking-spice aromas lead the way. The concentrated, rich palate delivers raisin, star anise and tobacco alongside firm, refined tannins.
Wine Spectator Rating: 93 Pts.

The popularity of Amarone has led to much greater production of the style across the wider Valpolicella region. This has created some variation in quality levels of Amarone wines.

Though great examples are made in other Valpolicella zones, this has led to renewed emphasis on Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico.

"Torre Mastio" takes its name from the historic tower in the Castelvecchio castle in Verona. The wine consists of 70% Corvina Veronese, 20% Rondinella and 10% Molinara, all local varieties.

Tasting notes:

Intense and dark ruby red. Bouquet is vinous, very rich of red berries and plums, chocolate and pepper. The taste is complex and rich, dry, and soft. Full bodied, elegant, and vigorous wine. It has a marked, distinctive aroma with a powerful fruit on the palate. Fine texture and a long caressing finish.

Food Paring:

This excellent red wine is a perfect pair with rich meat and game dishes and cheeses.
