Royal Prince Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Comprised of 100% Cabernet that is sourced (as grapes and finished wine) from esteemed Napa Valley sites, Royal Prince's is an opaque crimson wine that delivers on the Napa Valley experience but does so in a fashion that is a little bit rough around the edges at this point.

This particular bottle was splash-decanted and serially tasted over three hours, hitting its contemporaneous plateau after two hours in decanter.

Lush, packed with black fruit, licorice, truffle, savory herbs, loamy earth and dark chocolate, it is a full-bodied bruiser with fresh acidity, abundant edgy tannins, seamless alcohol and well-integrated oak. A plush, opulent, densely textured, full-bodied wine that shows loads of black raspberry fruits, violets, shaved cocoa with polished, sweet tannins. The Royal Prince is dark and almost opaque in color. It shows aromas of truffle, black cherry, and licorice.

With a solid mid-palate and somewhat coarse but lengthy back end, this is a well-priced Napa Cabernet Sauvignon that would benefit from a couple more years in the cellar, thereafter, providing enjoyment for at least another decade.

Food Pairing: Crispy NY Steak with Detroit Zip Sauce, root vegetable gratin, Vietnamese beef stir-fry, short ribs and polenta, veggie lasagna, eggplant rotolo, stuffed BBQ burgers.

Aged 20 months in 60% new French oak.
