The fruit for our Coach Gun was handpicked, sorted, and fermented naturally, then aged for 24 months in 60% new French oak barrels. Our winemaking team refined the blend over the course of the first year of aging, and the final wine was determined just months before bottling.
Everything about this vintage was early, from bud break in early March to harvest. The warm summer days and lighter than normal yield accelerated the start of the harvest that vintage.
Tasting Notes:
The Coach Gun delivers scents of vanilla bean and black cherry on the nose. On the palate, there are hints of licorice, blackberry, and roasted coffee bean. The wine is rich in color and delivers velvety soft tannins on the finish.
James Suckling Rating: 93 Pts.
Varieties: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon / 30% Petit Verdot, and 20% Malbec.
Origin: Napa Valley, California, United States
15.6% ABV

The historic Priest Ranch is now part of the Somerston Estate, a significant property totaling 1,682 acres, with 222 acres planted to hillside vineyards. Dramatic elevations of the vineyards define and distinguish the estate, ranging from 800 ft to 1,615 ft above sea level.

Priest Ranch is a historic Napa Valley property established in 1869 by James Joshua Priest, a gold rush prospector. In 2004 we combined the historic Priest Ranch and Elder Valley properties to create the Somerston Estate. Today the 1,615-acre estate has 215 acres of producing vineyards from 15 distinct areas with a total of 180 different blocks. We have explored the diversity of the property by blending multiple blocks into every wine produced. These multi-block wines showcase impressive quality and represent the property at the highest level. Each vineyard is uniquely tended based on the grape varietal.

Varieties: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon / 30% Petit Verdot, and 20% Malbec.
