The Guelbenzu winery has achieved cult status in the small appellation of Ribera del Queiles in Northern Spain, nestled between Navarra and Aragon.
The Guelbenzu Azul is a rare blend of Bordeaux varieties with Tempranillo - 50% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Graciano and 10% Tempranillo.
It was aged in French and American oak barrels in equal parts for 10+ months and rested in the bottle for 12 months before release.
Deep black cherry color. On the nose, elegant and harmonious with aromas of ripe red berries and black fruits against a mineral, balsamic backdrop. Notes of ripe black fruits come through (blackberries and blueberries) with a layered spicy, balsamic finish.
