Continuing our family history of distilling world-renowned Scotch whisky, Glenfiddich adds to the distillery’s prestigious collection of award winning aged single malts with the release of Grande Couronne 26 Year Old, an exquisite single malt finished in the finest French Cognac casks.
From the majestic mountains and glens of the Scottish Highlands to the chateaus and rolling vineyards of the French Charente, this is a spirit of exceptional opulence. Distilled in the land of King Robert the Bruce and Bonnie Prince Charlie, then kissed by the Crown of Marie Antoinette, this is a romantic liaison between the noblest houses of two refined traditions which ascends into this rich and regal whisky.
To create this exquisite whisky Brian Kinsman firsthand selected the perfect balance of 26-year-old Glenfiddich casks from our unique collection of age old malts. He then took this preciously rare whisky and finished it for an extended period in the finest French Cognac casks. These Cognac casks impart flavors into the oak, which are then subtly imparted into the flavor of the whisky. We labelled this whisky as Grande Couronne, which is French for “Great Crown”, to allude to its unique finish in these rare French Cognac casks.
Grande Couronne 26-Year-Old is presented in an opulent glass bottle wrapped in a regal, filigree gold print. The bottle is embraced by a presentation box featuring the same opulent filigree design, artistically embossed with a scene reminiscent of the spirit of the French court and the true taste of opulence contained within.
Grande Couronne 26-Year-Old is matured in American and European oak casks at The Glenfiddich Distillery, before the crowning glory: an extended finish in rare and meticulously selected French Cognac casks. The final toast is a majestically smooth marriage of café crème, brown sugar, and spice. While sweet toasted oak and the delicate scent of patisserie swirl in the air, the long-lasting sweet and velvety finish makes every dram a gilded tribute to true opulence.
