Award-winning Flor De Cana Centenario 12 Year Rum is slow aged for 12 years in whiskey and bourbon oak barrels to produce a complex, semi-sweet rum. On the palate you can taste butter, baked apple and toffee with a peppery spice and dark caramel finish.
The Flor de Caña Centenario 12 Year arrives in a clear, squat rum bottle with a plastic screw-top cap. What is good is that the bottle is distinctive, which serves to help me quickly recognize it on my rum shelf, and the labeling upon the bottle is clear and professional. The colours work, and the fonts work such that everything is easy to see and read. I like the overall look, but I do wish for a nice cork instead of the screw cap.
Flor de Cana is a sustainably produced premium rum that is carbon neutral & Fair Trade.
How Flor de Caña is enriched by the San Cristóbal Volcano, the tallest and most active in Nicaragua:
Volcanic Soil: Fertilized by the ashes constantly expelled by the volcano.
Volcanic Water: Enriched by minerals infiltrated into underground reservoirs.
Volcanic Climate: High volcanic temperatures contribute to the evaporation rate of the rum and foster a more intense and dynamic interaction between the barrel and the rum.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Reddish amber
Nose: Aromas of red fruits, honey and toasted nuts.
Palate: Wood, vanilla and baked apples, with a smooth and well-balanced finish.
