Chateau Le Prieure Pomerol

Le Prieuré is the second label of Château La Croix, an estate that has been in the Janoueix family for over 150 years.  In the last 20 years the family has invested a lot in the modernization of the winery as well as the transition of the vineyards from conventional to organic farming.

The Chateau Prieuré is comprised of select parcels of younger vines as well as barrels that the family declassifies to this second wine. Annual production of Le Prieuré is typically between 500 and 900 cases. The Janoueix wines have been served for presidents and dignitaries during official state dinners.

Aged 12-14 months in 50% new oak barrels

Tasting Notes:

With a deep ruby ​​color, this is a generous wine with plenty of intense dark fruit flavour and luscious, supple tannins that dance on the tongue.

Seductive aroma of the wine reveals notes of blackberry and violet, complemented by mineral and floral notes. Nose with fruity aromas.

The wine has a soft, rounded flavor with fruity notes, balanced acidity with melted and smooth tannins.

Very pleasant and long finish.

Food Pairing: Wine matches perfectly with duck, partridge, sweet desserts (eg, gratin with black cherry), as well as game and poultry.

Varieties: 60% Merlot, 20% Cab Sauv and 20% Cab Franc.
