Made from two grapes- indigenous to Italy- Frappato and Nerello Mascalese. The fresh vibrancy of Frappato and the tangy earthiness of Nerello Mascalese are like Bert and Ernie taking a bubble bath.
The wine has a very deep almost purple color! On the nose, intense wild red berries and violets, with a dusty quality and almost earthy scents. It's very appealing. I don't think I ever smelled a wine quite like this. The wine is medium bodied, yet very full to the taste- a weight reminiscent of a cru Beaujolais. It's dry and fruity, with very intense minerality, finishing with good acidity. It's so easy to drink- that one turns around and the bottle is empty! It's delicious! Believe me- I know- having gone through four bottles with friends and family already. By the way- best to serve this wine slightly chilled.
