Exclusive Barrel Select for Jensen's Liquors. The firm of William Cadenhead Limited, Wine and Spirit Merchants, was founded in 1842 and was in the ownership of the same family until it was taken over by the well known Campbeltown firm of J & A Mitchell & Co. Ltd who own Springbank Distillery. Independent bottler Cadenhead is known for their exceptional, one-of-a-kind casks. They find exceptional barrels from distilleries throughout Scotland, and bottle the individual barrels. This expression is classic Linkwood, which is known for its light, citrusy profile and clean, elegant finish. In Cadenhead Single Malt 12 years we found more exotic fruits, like yuzu, on the nose and honey and vanilla on the palate, finishing with soft ginger and nutmeg spices. Only 249 bottles were made from this cask. Powerful and rich to begin with. Some raisin syrup backed with clean, apple-like acidity adding some freshness. This swells into a deep but refined musky apple/pear note with some black fruits behind. Highly complex, but full of distillery character. Water brings out a note like freshly applied varnish. The palate is smooth, gentle, and deep. A classic mature Linkwood with all the distillery character on show in perfect alliance with the cask. Nose: Very rich on the nose as this dram opens up to a Creamy aroma, lots of vanilla and strawberry yoghurt. Hints of Meringues and custard. Palate: What a good dram with the palate in a race of flavours most notable are Custard creams, soft grassy notes with hints of lime, kiwi and eucalyptus, the palate has been amazing. Finish: The finish like the nose and the mid palate is exceptional with sweet soft raisin notes with orange zest, clotted cream and candied ginger. A true classic speyside of quality and taste.
