Description
The varietal Merenzao/Trousseau/Bastardo 2019 Bastarda was produced with a majority of grapes from the Val do Bibei, from trellised 20-year-old vines on granite soils at 600 meters in altitude. The full clusters fermented at low temperature with indigenous yeast and a long maceration. It matured in 3,200-liter oak foudre and 2,000-liter concrete vat for eight months. It's light at 12.1% alcohol with a pH of 3.3 and 6.2 grams of acidity (measured in tartaric acid). The wine is ethereal, perfumed and a bit intriguing, a little more in the style of a Poulsard than a Trousseau, with a wild character, irreverent and full of personality. This is light and very ethereal, with an herbal side.
