Description
Vinous; 91 points
Very ripe but fresh strawberry, pear and Persian melon, with a hint of banana, make for a headily aromatic display. The palate is no less extravagantly ripe and fruity, but projects an almost airy, chiffon-like sense of delicacy and creaminess allied to subtly juicy and tangy refreshment. The lusciously-lingering finish reflects entirely supportive sweetness and introduces both piquant counterpoint by way of pear pip and welcome vivacity from a touch of fresh lime. Intriguingly, and contrary to what I imagined from tasting it, this harbors marginally lower (though still around 8.5 grams) acidity than its stable mates and was picked late in October, near the end of this vintage’s Mönchhof harvest.
